A pair of Australian armed robbers made off with two bags of rubbish.

Detectives say the men pointed a sawn-off shotgun at a petrol station attendant in Melbourne and grabbed the bags.

The attendant was carrying them to the bin when a green van reversed towards him.

A man, who had covered his face with a piece of yellow cloth, slid the van’s side door open, produced a gun and demanded he hand over the bags.

“He told them it was only garbage but they took it anyway,” police spokeswoman Bronwen Kelly said.

Police say they have no idea why the men grabbed the trash, but they may have thought they contained money. Read full story
