Porn Gets Airplane Passenger in Trouble

A Cape Town businessman was thrown off a New Zealand Nationwide Airlines flight last weekend after a row over his right to read a pornographic magazine on the plane.

AC Hoffman, a developer in the tobacco industry, says he was minding his own business reading Loslyf, an Afrikaans hard-core magazine.

Hoffman was quoted on Tuesday in an Afrikaans paper as saying: “Nowhere on my ticket does it say that this magazine may not be read on the aircraft… this will not be the end of the matter.” Read full story

Burglar Takes Items, but Then Cleans Up

Richmond, Va. - A woman’s apartment was cleaned out, and cleaned up by a burglar, police said. According to police, the woman returned home Thursday after being away for a week and discovered her television, computer and other items missing. The burglar had also helped himself to food and booze.

But this was not a thoughtless thief. Police said the rear sliding glass door, which the woman had left open, was closed and locked when she returned. In addition, “clothes and dishes had been washed and dried,” according to the police report.

Police Capt. Karl Leonard said it’s possible the burglar knew the woman was going to be gone for a while and may have decided to take up residence in the interim.

“They probably didn’t want to stay in a dirty apartment,’ said Leonard, calling the case “very, very unusual.”

“We’ve had burglaries in the past where people have fixed themselves a sandwich,” he added. “But nobody’s ever done the wash.”

Student Takes a Shit in RA’s Dorm Room

Resident advisors walked in on a nasty surprise: someone had broken into and vandalized their rooms, reportedly defecating in at least one RA’s room.

Police are offering $500 for any information regarding the incident.

“The vandalism was out of the bounds of any sense of decency,” said Washington University Police Chief Don Strom. “It was disgusting. The behavior was totally unacceptable and inconsistent with behavior expected of the Washington University community.”

Purse snatcher outrun by a girl

Beijing - A Chinese thief stole a girl’s money but never expected the girl would turn out to be a running champion.

Chu Weiwei, from Chengdu city, was stopped by a man on her way shopping.

She explains: “He said to me that I had a good temperament and that he wanted to recruit me as his company’s image representative.”

Chen chatted with the “boss” in a nearby cafe but he ran off with her purse. When she sprinted after him he threw the purse towards her.

She said: “He never knew I was the running champion of Shandong province”, reports Tianfu Morning Post.

Armed robbers steal bags of garbage

A pair of Australian armed robbers made off with two bags of rubbish.

Detectives say the men pointed a sawn-off shotgun at a petrol station attendant in Melbourne and grabbed the bags.

The attendant was carrying them to the bin when a green van reversed towards him.

A man, who had covered his face with a piece of yellow cloth, slid the van’s side door open, produced a gun and demanded he hand over the bags.

“He told them it was only garbage but they took it anyway,” police spokeswoman Bronwen Kelly said.

Police say they have no idea why the men grabbed the trash, but they may have thought they contained money. Read full story

Woman fined $16,000 for unpaid income taxes on stolen money

A Winnipeg woman has found out the hard way that income tax must be paid—even on money that’s been stolen.

The Canada Revenue Agency has announced that Audrey Shuster has been fined more than $16,000—the amount of tax owing on money she embezzled from her employer.

Shuster was convicted and sentenced to 30 months in prison in 2003 for misappropriating $73,000 from a farm equipment supplier where she was employed as a bookkeeper.

Shuster forged the company president’s signature on cheques that she wrote to herself.

Man Gives Up On Women

Atlanta native auto mechanic Michael Ross publicly declares that he has given up the life long struggle to figure out what women really want.

This came after a recently published report estimating American corporations had spent over $1.7 billion dollars in 2003 to determine what women want from their products and marketing, and had largely failed.

“If combining rooms full of highly skilled experts and truckloads of money can’t figure these women out, how on earth is the typical blue collar man with $28,000 after tax dollars a year supposed to?” said Mr. Ross during an interview with Atlanta news reporters.

“It may be that these women themselves have no idea what they are looking for or what will win them over. Many admit to having the exact same qualities in one man be endearing, while in another, off-putting.”
Mr. Ross’s web site has generated over 32,000 letters of support from other men in its guest book since his announcement earlier in the day.
